Physician career change is the focus of the Medical Fusion conference. 

Non-clinical jobs, medical journalism, medical informatics, physician entrepreneurs, medical device development, and venture capital are all topics that will be covered at this exciting new event.Whether you are a medical resident who wants to learn about all of the possibilities available to you or a retired physician looking for entrepreneurial side ventures, this is the conference for you. Come to Medical Fusion and get the tools necessary to take your career to the next level.

Medical Fusion is for physicians interested in exploring non-clinical career opportunities. Designed to teach physicians how to leverage their medical training and expand their careers, participants receive training from experts with practical knowledge on a variety of non-clinical subjects.

Medical Fusion is designed as a “tool box” for the modern physician. Clinical physicians today need to know how to leverage their clinical training in new and unique ways. Medical Fusion provides broad exposure to a variety of niche areas, leaving participants with practical steps to begin crafting the career they’ve always wanted. Come learn from physicians who’ve already developed their own unique careers.

 
2010 SoPE Meeting in Boston
We plan to offer several educational events at the 2010 Meeting in Boston. We have submitted proposals for a miniseminar (Dealing with Industry) and a 2-hour instructional course on Biodesign: How to get your device to market. In addition, we are planning a Monday night satellite society event with a guest speaker.Hope to see you there. Please check this site after March for additional program information.
 
CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY’s College of Business Administration invites applications

CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY’s College of Business Administration invites applications for a tenure track assistant or associate professor of entrepreneurship position beginning fall semester, 2010.  Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in entrepreneurship, strategy or a related field at the time of appointment and would have experience and interest in developing and managing new programs in the areas of bioscience entrepreneurship and/or social entrepreneurship.  Candidates must demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and the potential for, or a track record of, publishing in his/her expertise area.  Teaching load is five classes per year, and summer teaching/ research support and potential executive program teaching are available. The candidate will also be asked to provide academic advising for students, as well as service to the College, University and community.

Creighton is a Catholic and Jesuit comprehensive University located in a vibrant and growing metropolitan area which features two major medical research centers:  Creighton University Medical School and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Nearly 2/3 of Creighton students are studying science or health sciences, and the University also features an accredited law school. Creighton has been consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the best liberal arts university in the Midwest. The College of Business Administration is accredited by the AACSB.  Degrees awarded include the BSBA, MBA, Master of Science in Information Technology Management, and Masters of Science in Securities and Portfolio Analysis.  Recent entrepreneurship offerings include an NSF-sponsored Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program (www.creighton.edu/business/bep), a weekend, executive style Professional Science Masters in Bioscience Management (www.creighton.edu/business.psm), and a new social entrepreneurship major and cross-campus minor.

The deadline for applications is October 30, 2009, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  All applicant files will be reviewed immediately, and qualified candidates will be scheduled for phone interviews shortly thereafter. Interviews will also be conducted at the SMS conference in October.
